It’s me. Alfred. KING Alfred.
I had a bad day today. I got stung by a bee. It was horrible.
At first I didn’t know what had happened to me. I was running up and down the hallway HISSING and GROWLING.

“Alfred! Alfred! What are you doing?! What’s wrong?! What happened to you? Did an animal bite you or something?!” Moms cried. She was clearly alarmed. ‘Let me take a look,” Moms said. But, I ran and hid in a chair under the dining room table cloth.
“Don’t come near me…” I growled to my Moms.
“Oh… Alfred. You look bad! And you look like you’re going to bite me if I come too close. I’m going to leave you alone for a while until you calm down,” Moms said dropping the table cloth and leaving me alone.
After 10 minutes when I had stopped hissing, Moms came back and looked at me. “You know Alfred. I think you got stung by a bee. There are a lot of bee hives here at the Homestead. And one hive is just outside my bedroom window. Bees are always getting in,” Moms explained as I sat real still. I was in pain but not as rabid and wild as I had just been.
“Oh no… Alfred. Your head is swelling up. And look at your neck! It’s all swollen, too. This was definitely a bee sting. Maybe I should rush you to the Emergency Room…?? They know you well over there at Banefield since you have already been there twice in 3 months.”
A bee sting. Wow. I could be allergic. Am I going to die? I got up and walked stiffly over to my favorite chair in the living room. I gave one big effort to lick the sting behind my front sholder which was hard to reach and very painful.
“So, that’s where the bee stung you, Alfred. Right behind your sholder. That’s why your head is swollen!” Moms exlaimed.
Brilliant, I thought. I tried to sleep while Moms was on the computer looking up what to do with a cat with a bee sting. I began to feel better. The pain was subsiding.
“Alfred, the internet says I should take you into the ER because you could die. Look at these pictures with all these cats who got stung by bees. They look horrible. But, they got stung on their paws – not on their bodies. Wow… I feel like a negligant mom. Over an hour has passed and I didn’t get my Little Man to the ER.”
But, guys, I felt better. My head went back to its normal size, and I curled up and went to sleep.

That’s when my Moms knew I was going to be alright.
So all is well that ends well.
